So I would like to kick off this Tuesday morning by sharing an infographic I found online (from an unknown source - all I know is that it was brought to us by RedPepper). As you will see in this infographic below " The History of Social Media "  it all started with E-mail and it wasn't email like we do it now with graphics, html, and other elements embedded.

Some people online today may be too young to remember email in it's most primitive form (myself included) but I do remember growing up with only 3 Internet providers which were AOL, Prodigy and Compuserve. AOL was my first experience using Social Media. AOL was King of Social Media for a long time from the days of dial-up to then DSL to then using an existing cable connection . I also IRC chat, social media sharing using Napster, then Kazaa, now it's all bittorrentz.  Back in the days everyone expressed themselves by making their own homesites using Geocities then it was myspace, migente.com (for latinos) and there was also Blackplanet.com and AsianAvenue.com and now we have even more emerging networks everyday like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Tumblr, Pinterest, Blogger, Wordpress, Triberr, .

Note that custom thumbnails and banners aren’t initially available for newly-made partners but will be enabled over time.

So, what exactly does this mean for the average person? We suspect there will be a huge influx of ad-infused videos while only a few people with extremely successful videos will make enough money for the deal to be worth their while. Odds are, however, that most with a popular channel are already generating an extra income stream using the partner service.

Ok we will start with the Big G (Google). Let me tell what I did to get 540 pages indexed on google so far.  I installed a wordpress plugin called Google Sitemap which creates a file like this one sitemap.xml and will index all of pages, posts, categories and more. This feeds into Google and Bing mostly. Don't worry if Bing indexes less as their webcrawler seems to take longer than Google which will index pages like the next day after they are created. This takes time !

Exit rate as a term used in web site traffic analysis (sometimes confused with bounce rate) is the percentage of visitors to a site who actively click away to a different site from a specific page, after possibly having visited any other pages on the site. Simply put, a page’s Exit Rate is the number of times where that page was the last page viewed in a session, divided by the total page views for that page. Every visitor’s session comes to an end sometime, whether that visitor looked at one, ten, or fifty pages. Whatever page was viewed last in the session is the “exit page”. The number of times that page was the “exit page” divided by the total number of times that page was viewed is the Exit Rate for that page.

Google + Tip #1: Make a Google+ Business Page

If you haven’t already, the first thing you need to do to is set up your Google+ Business page.   The requirements to make a Google+ Business page are similar to Facebook's requirements: you need to have a personal Google+ page before you can make a business site. You can add your location, your business category, and customize your profile image, tagline and introduction section. Include your website.

When you’re setting up your page (or revising one you already have), be sure to take advantage of the large cover photos. Your image can now be as large as 2120 x 1192 pixels, as indicated in this G+ cover image:   To drive traffic to your blog:

• include your blog URL in your introduction section, and give a good call to action (CTA) as to why a user should visit.
