Make Money with YouTube - Monetizing YouTube Videos

For sometime now the most popular video website in the world YouTube made the change that effective April 2012  anyone could start making money using the video-sharing website. The “partner” program that previously allowed a select few to monetize their videos opened its doors to the general public, granted that you meet a few basic criteria. That was big news for anyone who posts videos to YouTube yet it seems some people are still not aware of this program and so I continue to share with you how to Make Money with YouTube and how Monetizing YouTube Videos will just add more revenue to any existing revenue you may be getting from Google Adsense.

YouTube Adsense Program

The program allows users to infuse their videos with Google ads from the AdSense program and retain 55 percent of the revenue earned from each video. The changes are in effect today for the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom and the United States.

To get started, you need to enable the feature on your account and successfully monetize at least one video. You will additionally need to associate an AdSense account with your YouTube account. Payments will be processed and paid through the AdSense program once you reach your local payment threshold. Note that custom thumbnails and banners aren’t initially available for newly-made partners but will be enabled over time.

So, what exactly does this mean for the average person? We suspect there will be a huge influx of ad-infused videos while only a few people with extremely successful videos will make enough money for the deal to be worth their while. Odds are, however, that most with a popular channel are already generating an extra income stream using the partner service.

How much Money will my Videos Earn?

Earnings will depend on a number of factors. The two key factors are the type of ads and the pricing of ads appearing with your videos.

What types of Videos are Eligible ?

For a video to be eligible, you must own worldwide distribution rights to everything in the video and the video must abide by our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

This means you have created everything in your video yourself, and you did not sell exclusive commercial usage rights to someone else. If your video contains content created by someone else, you must have their written permission to use and make money from it.

Examples of videos that could be eligible include:

  • You filmed your cat and there is no background music.

  • Your video contains royalty-free music, and you can prove commercial rights using direct links to the song and applicable license.

  • Your friend's band wrote and recorded a song for your video and states in writing that you can use and make money from it.

Which Videos are NOT Eligible ?

Your video is not eligible if it contains content that you didn't create or get permission from its creator to use. You need to be able to show written permission for the following video elements:

  • Audio: recorded music, live performances, cover songs, background music, etc.

  • Visuals: images, logos, software, video game footage, etc.

  • Any other content you don't own worldwide commercial usage rights to.

Examples of videos that are NOT eligible

  • Your video contains a song you purchased for personal use (e.g., bought on iTunes or in a store) but didn't obtain a commercial license.

  • You found a video on the Internet and you cannot prove that it's in public domain.

  • You are only singing words of your favorite copyrighted song

  • You have used content from someone else without permission, but you haven't yet received a copyright notice on your video.

  • You edit together or "mash-up" other works

  • You only use 30 seconds of a song or video clip

  • Your video does not provide proper attribution or credits as required by a license.

If your video is not eligible, it may be removed from YouTube.

Final Thoughts

Now that you have followed the steps above, all you gotta do is upload videos,  make sure you set relevant keywords for your tags so got good SEO and Traffic to your videos because if your videos don't get seen then you don't show ads and you don't make money. Make sure to follow all of the steps because if you don't turn on monetization in general or monetization for each video or connect to your Google Adsense account you won't make a penny even if your videos are getting high traffic and views.  Good Luck to all of you !!
