Wordpress.org vs Wordpress.com

This post will help identify the differences between the two flavors of Wordpress. Keep in mind Wordpress is THE BEST BLOGGING PLATFORM in existence so don't get it twisted (Blogger, Tumblr, Live Journal, etc - sure those are cool but LIMITED and I hate LIMITATIONS. Anyway here goes nothing- its a deathmatch and one flavor of Wordpress is gonna kill the other .. Wordpress.org vs Wordpress.com!!

Wordpress.org Vs Wordpress.com

wordpress.org vs wordpress.com, wordpress org vs comWordpress.org is like having 3 scoops instead of 1 with sprinkles, chocolate chips, nuts, THE WORKS!

Getting Started with Wordpress

If you want to create a website with WordPress, it's important to note the two flavors or versions ot it...

1) WordPress.com (in this corner we have the challenger)

2) WordPress.org ( in this corner we have the undisputed champion!!)

The WordPress.com version is FREE, but your site will be hosted on the WordPress.com servers, and you won't have access to the powerful plugin features that allow you to add on useful functionality like contact forms, create social media buttons/widgets, etc.

You also won't be able to monetize your site because it's against the WordPress.com terms. So that means you cannot use AdSense, affiliate programs or any kind of monetization at all.

Also, because your site is hosted on wordpress.com, they own your site. If WordPress decides to delete your account for any reason, you have no control over that.

Choose WordPress.org Instead

WordPress.org is the way to go and the easiest way to get started is to choose a web host that allows a one-click install of the WordPress script. For example, my web hosting company , DreamHost has a 5-Minute one-click install of Wordpress which I completed in 3 minutes - I've said it before that I was an IT Geek. That means when you sign up, WordPress is already installed on your domain name (yoursite.com) so you can get started faster.

Create Multiple Sites

You can also host multiple websites, domains or subdomains under one hosting plan. In  fact in addition to hosting TrafficMarketingDaddy.com I also have two subdomains (prosper202.trafficmarketingdaddy.com which I used to manage advertising campaigns for free and forums.trafficmarketingdaddy.com which is still very experimental and not Live yet.

With the same webhosting company Dreamhost I also host an astrology/numerology blog, a make money blog and an As Seen on Tv Store and that is with the same hosting plan ( the only extra cost is the one-time of cost of purchasing the domain names and keeping the domain names registered yearly which is around the same amount of money it could me to buy a family meal at McDonalds.

So if you are creating more than one WordPress website or you want additional WordPress installations on the same domain, you can do all of that without having to buy more than one plan. That means you could install WordPress on yourdomain.com/folder1 and yourdomain.com/folder2 or even blog.yourdomain.com and blog2.yourdomain.com. Here's another scenario...

If you are going to buy more than one domain name, you can also install WordPress on two different domain names with only one hosting plan. In other words, yoursite.com and yoursecondsite.com can both be hosted under the same account and run two different WordPress installations.
