How to Schedule WordPress Blog Posts with Bufferapp

Social media plays a crucial part in driving quality traffic and new leads. And there are certain times when sites like Twitter, Facebook and Google+ gets most amount of users. Now if you have an offline business or you cannot be online all the time. How do you fix that? How do you schedule wordpress blog posts ?

Here is one method using Bufferapp - With just a web based scheduling app and a WordPress plugin.

What is Bufferapp ?


Bufferapp is a scheduling service that allows you to automatically schedule the social media posts across various social networks. It integrates popular social networks such as – Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Linkdin, etc. The social media app offers analytics, scheduling report and URL shortening. You can also your team members to divide up the social media efforts.

Scheduling shares on Bufferapp sounds good, but how about automatically adding / scheduling your WordPress blog posts using Bufferapp. In this post, I am going to walk you through a step by step guide on how you could achieve the same.

Step 1 - Sign up for a Buffer Account


First thing, go ahead and signup for an Buffer account. You can signup using various social networks or simple email & password. Once you have completed the signup process, you will be taken to Buffer Dashboard.

Step 2 - Connect Wordpress to Buffer


Next step, is to connect WordPress to your Buffer account. To do that, install the WordPress to Buffer plugin on your site. Once you have activated the plugin, it will add a settings page which you will find under Settings section (Settings > Buffer).

To connect your WordPress site to Buffer app you would need to create an app. The plugin will show you the link to that app page. Click that link and complete the required information on the page. Also, below that link you will find a callback URL which you need to copy and paste in the application page.

Step 3 - Configure Buffer App


Add a name and description for your app, which could be your site title and description. Next add the site url in the website field. In the Callback URL field, enter the url shown in the WordPress to Buffer plugin settings page (Settings > Buffer).

After adding all the necessary info, click on the “Create Application” button. Buffer will now send you an email with Client ID and a link to access token code. Copy the Client ID and access token and paste them into your WordPress to Buffer plugin settings page.

Now click the update options, to complete the setup.

Step 4 - Begin Using Buffer App to Post Blog to all Connected Accounts


After the authentication, it will show a list of all the connected accounts to your Buffer profile. Select the accounts you to publish your blog posts on and click save.

You can also disable the social sharing on individual posts for a particular social network. Just simply un-tick the checkbox in “Add to Buffer” meta box.

Alternatives


If you didn’t like the scheduling feature, then you can simply use the JetPack plugin or a social sharing service such as dlvr.it.
